Hi, I'm Mark and I'm a South Eastern Idaho based commercial photographer/retoucher specializing in portraiture, architecture, interiors, commercial spaces, as well as product photography.
I studied photography and design at several different colleges in Southern California during the 80's and we've just recently moved my business to Idaho Falls, ID. Growing up in Whittier CA, my father was an accomplished amateur photographer and helped to instill in me a love for composition and light. At the ripe ole age of 12 years I was given a box full of "old junk" from the basement fo my grandfathers home, it turned out to be a complete set of darkroom equipment and chemicals. I was so pumped and couldn't wait to try it all out. Once I did; I was hooked and from that time on I spent countless hours working on and in a small darkroom in my family garage. My amazing parents must have seen something in me and went so far as to buy me a Nikon F2 film camera for my 18th birthday. Trust me, my parents were not wealthy.
As an enthusiastic runner, cyclist, hiker and the father/step father to 5, in his mid 30's I began having an odd weakness in my legs which seemed to only grow worse with increased exercise. By the age of 39 I had been diagnosed with a form of Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy; a progressive muscle weakening condition which affects my hips and shoulder muscles. This condition has made my work more difficult but all the more precious to me at the same time. People are sometimes surprised when I show up for a location shoot riding a mobility scooter, but this "light and momentary affliction" has only increased my enthusiasm for the craft & art of photography and, I think. the quality of my work.
When I'm not making images, I enjoy wood working, web design and just spending time with his best friend and wife Barb who is my rock of stability, support and love. Oh, and my kids are awesome too! I'd love to show you pictures!
